Veterans’ Transition to Trucking Act of 2025

To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to approve interstate commerce carrier apprenticeship programs for purposes of veterans educational assistance, and for other purposes.

Introduced Apr 30, 2025

Latest action (Apr 30, 2025) Read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

Summary

This bill authorizes the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to approve multi-state apprenticeship programs for purposes of veterans educational assistance benefits, specifically for interstate commerce carriers such as trucking. Currently, individual state agencies typically must approve educational and apprenticeship programs for veterans to use their educational benefits. This bill allows the VA to act as the approving agency for apprenticeship programs that operate across multiple states, streamlining the approval process for veterans seeking to enter careers in industries like trucking that operate nationally. The change enables veterans to access educational assistance for these interstate apprenticeship programs without requiring separate approvals from each state.
