S 1440 Passed Senate Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Uniformed Services Leave Parity Act
S. 1440 To amend title II of the Public Health Service Act to include as an additional right or privilege of commissioned officers of the Public Health Service (and their beneficiaries) certain leave provided under title 10, United States Code to commissioned officers of the Army (or their beneficiaries).
Summary
This bill amends the Public Health Service Act to extend the same leave provisions to commissioned officers of the Public Health Service that are currently provided to commissioned officers of the Army under federal law. The bill adds Chapter 40 (Leave) of title 10, United States Code to the rights and privileges of Public Health Service commissioned officers and their beneficiaries. The bill also repeals Section 219 of the Public Health Service Act as a conforming change. The effect is to align leave benefits between Public Health Service commissioned officers and Army commissioned officers.
