Summary

This bill establishes a new Inspector General position for the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), bringing the USTR under the statutory Inspector General framework in title 5 of the United States Code. The bill requires the President to appoint an Inspector General for the USTR within 120 days of enactment to provide independent oversight of the office's operations. The Inspector General would have authority to conduct audits, investigations, and reviews of the USTR's administration of trade statutes and implementation of trade agreements, consistent with the authority exercised by Inspectors General at other federal agencies.
