S 1217 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Fishing Industry Credit Enhancement Act of 2025
To amend the Farm Credit Act of 1971 to support the commercial fishing industry.
Summary
This bill amends the Farm Credit Act of 1971 to extend credit eligibility to businesses that provide services to commercial fishing operations. Currently, the Farm Credit System provides credit primarily to agricultural producers; this bill expands that eligibility to include businesses furnishing services directly related to the operating needs of fishing producers and harvesters. The changes apply to both Farm Credit Banks and Production Credit Associations, allowing these entities to offer financial services to fishing-related service providers. This enables the existing Farm Credit System to support the commercial fishing industry in addition to traditional agriculture.
