S 1152 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Rhode Island Fishermen's Fairness Act of 2025
To amend the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to add Rhode Island to the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to add Rhode Island as a member state of the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council. The Mid-Atlantic Council is responsible for managing fishing in the waters off the East Coast. Adding Rhode Island to the council increases the total council membership from 21 to 23 members and increases the voting membership from 13 to 14 members. The change gives Rhode Island representation in fishery management decisions for the Mid-Atlantic region, which encompasses the state's coastal fishing interests.
