Summary
House Resolution 732 expresses support for designating September 30, 2025, as "Rare Cancer Day" to raise awareness of rare cancers and their challenges. The resolution notes that approximately one in five cancer patients in the United States are diagnosed with a rare cancer, that all pediatric cancers are rare, and that rare cancers account for approximately one quarter of all cancer deaths annually. The resolution recognizes that rare cancers present diagnostic challenges due to unfamiliar symptoms and lower scientific understanding compared to more common cancers, resulting in lower five-year survival rates. The resolution encourages awareness of rare cancer symptoms to enable earlier detection, supports medical and scientific partnerships to improve diagnosis and treatment, and calls for dedicated funding to develop cures and treatments for rare cancers.
