RESOLUTION

Expressing support for the designation of September 22 as “National Military and Veterans Suicide Awareness Day”.

Whereas the members of the United States Armed Forces and veterans have selflessly served and sacrificed to defend the Nation’s freedom and security; Whereas the mental health and well-being of military personnel and veterans are vital components of their overall readiness and ability to lead fulfilling lives; Whereas the persistent challenges of post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues contribute to an alarming rate of suicide within the military and veteran populations; Whereas it is our duty to raise awareness about the struggles faced by military members and veterans, combat the stigma surrounding mental health, and foster an environment that encourages seeking help; Whereas designating a specific day for national awareness can bring attention to the importance of providing adequate mental health support and resources to military personnel and veterans; Whereas September is recognized as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, providing an opportune time to focus on the unique challenges faced by those who have served the Nation; and Whereas we recognize September 22 as National Military and Veterans Suicide Awareness Day: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives supports the designation of a “National Military and Veterans Suicide Awareness Day”. <all>
