IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

July 29, 2025

Mr. Evans of Colorado (for himself, Mrs. Miller-Meeks, and Mr. Kean) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce

RESOLUTION

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Medicaid.

Whereas Medicaid was established on July 30, 1965, by the enactment of the Social Security Amendments of 1965; Whereas Medicaid was originally created to provide medical and health-related services to children, single mothers, the disabled, and individuals living below the Federal poverty line; Whereas Medicaid is jointly funded and administered as a partnership between the States and the Federal Government; Whereas Congress has a responsibility to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid to ensure its long term viability for Americans who need it the most; Whereas the One Big Beautiful Bill Act made important progress in rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid while implementing common-sense work requirements for able bodied working age adults living above the Federal poverty line; and Whereas, under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Medicaid spending in 2035 will be $200,000,000,000 higher than in 2025: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

(1) celebrates the 60th anniversary of Medicaid; and

(2) will continue to protect Medicaid from waste, fraud, and abuse to ensure its longevity for the most vulnerable Americans such as children, single mothers, the disabled, and individuals living below the Federal poverty line. <all>
