Summary

This resolution recognizes the contributions of Latina women in Illinois during National Women's History Month. It notes that while Latinas represent approximately 9.6 percent of the U.S. population, they make up only 2.6 percent of state elected officials and 3.6 percent of federal officeholders. The resolution highlights Latina representation in Illinois government, including the first Latina from the Midwest elected to Congress, and lists specific Latina officials serving in the state. The resolution is purely ceremonial and does not create law, but formally honors the role of Latinas in governance and civic participation.
