Mr. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Natural Resources

A BILL

To designate Boca Chica Beach located in Cameron County, Texas, as “Boca Chica Beach”, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “Hands Off Our Boca Chica Beach Act of 2026”.

SEC. 2. BOCA CHICA BEACH.

(a) In General.—Boca Chica Beach located in Cameron County, Texas, shall be known and designated as “Boca Chica Beach”.

(b) References.—Any reference in a law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States to Boca Chica Beach located in Cameron County, Texas, shall be deemed to be a reference to “Boca Chica Beach”.

SEC. 3. NOTIFICATION OF MEMBERS OF CONGRESS OF CERTAIN GEOGRAPHIC NAME PROPOSALS.

(a) In General.—When the Domestic Names Committee receives a proposal for a geographic name, the Domestic Names Committee shall notify each Member of Congress that represents an area affected by such proposal of such proposal when the Domestic Names Committee solicits input in accordance with the Principles, Policies, and Procedures document with respect to such proposal.

(b) Definitions.—In this section:

(1) Board on geographic names.—The term “Board on Geographic Names” means the Board on Geographic Names established by section 2 of the Act of July 25, 1947 (43 U.S.C. 364a).

(2) Domestic names committee.—The term “Domestic Names Committee” means the Domestic Names Committee of the Board on Geographic Names.

(3) Principles, policies, and procedures document.—The term “Principles, Policies, and Procedures document” means the document published by the Domestic Names Committee titled “U.S. Board on Geographic Names Principles, Policies, and Procedures Domestic Geographic Names” (version 2.3; December 2016). <all>
