Mr. Onder introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Education and Workforce

A BILL

To amend the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 to require labor organizations to include results of certain audits in financial reports, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “Improving Clarity and Transparency for Unions Act of 2026” or the “Improving CTU Act of 2026”.

SEC. 2. REPORTS AND AUDIT RESULTS.

(a) Audit Results.—Section 201(b) of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (29 U.S.C. 431(b)) is amended—

(1) in paragraph (5), by striking the “and” at the end;

(2) in paragraph (6), by inserting “and” after the semicolon; and

(3) by inserting after paragraph (6) the following:

“(7) the results of any audit of the finances or the financial transactions of the labor organization to which the labor organization has access;”.

(b) Provision of Reports.—Section 201(c) of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (29 U.S.C. 431(c)) is amended by inserting after “to all its members” the following: “by publishing such information on the website of the labor organization, or, in the absence of such a website, by providing, upon the request of a member of the labor organization, a physical or electronic copy of such information”.

(c) Effective Date.—The amendments made by this Act shall apply with respect to any report under title II of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (29 U.S.C. 431 et seq.) submitted on or after the date that is 6 months after the date of enactment of this Act. <all>
