HR 9188 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Military Readiness Permitting Efficiency Act of 2026
To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize interagency agreements to expedite reviews of priority programs and projects of the Department of Defense, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill authorizes the Secretary of Defense to enter into agreements with the National Marine Fisheries Service and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to expedite environmental reviews of priority military programs and projects. Under these agreements, the Defense Department would provide direct financial assistance to hire personnel to conduct the reviews, but only when the Secretary determines the review is needed within a specific timeframe and the agency certifies it lacks sufficient funds or personnel to complete the review independently. The reviews would apply to military activities that fall under the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act, or the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. The bill defines eligible expenses to include military planning support, review-related activities, and development of programmatic agreements.
