HR 9122 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Defective Firearms Protection Act
To amend the consumer product safety laws to repeal the exclusion of pistols, revolvers, and other firearms from the definition of consumer product under such laws.
Summary
The bill removes the current exclusion of firearms (pistols, revolvers, and other guns) from federal consumer product safety laws. Under current law, firearms are exempt from Consumer Product Safety Commission oversight and are not classified as consumer products. The bill would subject firearms to the same safety standards and regulations that apply to other consumer products.
