HR 9009 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To repeal the Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owners' Protection Act.
Summary
This bill repeals the Hughes Amendment, which is part of the Firearm Owners' Protection Act. The Hughes Amendment, codified in section 922(o) of title 18, United States Code, currently prohibits civilian possession or transfer of machine guns manufactured after May 19, 1986. The bill would remove this prohibition by striking subsection (o), thereby repealing the federal ban on civilian machine gun possession and transfer.
