Federal Funding Protection Act
To amend title 28, United States Code, to provide for original and concurrent jurisdiction for the district courts over certain civil actions.
Summary
This bill would allow federal district courts to hear lawsuits against the United States seeking to overturn an agency's decision to terminate a federal grant. The bill applies only when the agency termination is also being challenged through the standard administrative review process under federal law. By giving district courts this authority, the bill would create a concurrent pathway for these cases to be heard in federal court. Grant recipients could pursue their challenges through both administrative review and district court proceedings simultaneously or alternatively. The bill amends federal jurisdiction laws to add this new category of cases that district courts can handle.
