To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study on grocery costs to United States consumers, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would require the Government Accountability Office to conduct a study on changes in grocery costs to U.S. consumers over the past 20 years, including analysis of the Consumer Price Index for food at home and other relevant economic metrics. The GAO would be required to submit a report to Congress within 180 days containing its findings and recommendations for helping to lower food costs for consumers. The report would be provided to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Financial Services, and the Senate Committee on Finance.
