To amend title 18, United States Code, to establish nationwide concealed carry reciprocity for certain members of the Armed Forces, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal law to extend nationwide concealed carry rights to active-duty members of the Armed Forces, in addition to qualified law enforcement officers who already have this protection. Under current federal law, Section 926B allows certain qualified law enforcement officers to carry concealed handguns nationwide, regardless of state and local gun laws. The bill extends this same privilege to active-duty military members who have completed a military firearms qualification within the preceding 12 months. Qualifying military members would need to carry a valid Department of Defense identification card and documentation of their current firearms qualification to exercise this right. The amendment does not apply to military members who are not on active duty or who do not have current firearms qualifications.
