HR 8851 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To amend title 51, United States Code, to direct the Secretary of Transportation to establish an electronic processing portal for licenses and other approvals related to commercial space launch activities, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill directs the Secretary of Transportation to establish an electronic processing portal for managing commercial space launch license and approval applications within one year of enactment. The portal would facilitate submission, modification, and tracking of applications, manage documentation, and log communications between the Secretary, applicants, and other federal agencies. The system would display key dates and information to applicants and the public, including application submission dates, acceptance or rejection dates, and the status of applications. The portal would also track the number of days between various milestones in the approval process.
