To require the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board to finalize a proposed rule relating to accessibility of electric vehicle charging stations, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill requires the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board to finalize a proposed rule on accessibility standards for electric vehicle charging stations within 18 months of enactment. The final rule must include minimum accessibility standards and guidelines for EV charging stations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Architectural Barriers Act. If the board does not meet the deadline, the proposed rule automatically becomes final and must be published in the Federal Register. Within 180 days after the final rule is published, the Secretary of Transportation and the Attorney General must issue implementing regulations to adopt the accessibility guidelines.
