Summary

The bill amends the Medicaid program to require that diagnostic breast examinations, supplemental breast examinations, and screening mammography be provided without cost-sharing to beneficiaries. Diagnostic breast examinations are defined as examinations used to evaluate abnormalities detected during screening or by other means, using imaging such as mammography, breast MRI, or ultrasound. Supplemental breast examinations are defined as screening examinations for individuals with risk factors but no detected abnormality. Screening mammography that receives a grade A or B from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force becomes a mandatory Medicaid benefit with no cost-sharing. The changes take effect one year after enactment.
