Secret Service Transfer Act of 2026
To establish the United States Secret Service within the Executive Office of the President.
Summary
This bill transfers the United States Secret Service from the Department of Homeland Security to the Executive Office of the President. All functions, personnel, assets, liabilities, and components of the Secret Service are transferred to the Executive Office of the President. The current Director of the Secret Service continues in that position and maintains the same compensation level, with future directors appointed by the President. The Secret Service initially maintains its existing organizational structure, roles, and functions after the transfer, though the Director may reorganize the agency later to enhance efficiency and operational effectiveness. The bill requires that all activities related to the transfer be finalized within one year of enactment, with the Department of Homeland Security providing assistance to the Secret Service during the transition period.
