To improve oversight of Department of Defense compliance with certain requirements for domestic food supply chains, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would require the Department of Defense Inspector General to conduct quarterly audits to determine compliance with domestic food supply chain requirements outlined in Federal law. The first audit must be conducted within 90 days of the bill's enactment, with subsequent audits occurring on a quarterly basis thereafter. The Inspector General must submit a report to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees within 60 days after each audit concludes, detailing the audit results. The audits will specifically examine Department of Defense procurement practices related to domestic food sourcing requirements. The bill aims to improve oversight of how the military complies with existing requirements related to domestic food supply chains.
