Summary

This bill amends federal quality standards for mammography facilities under the Public Health Service Act to allow the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems. The bill modifies requirements that previously mandated physician involvement in certain mammography functions to permit AI systems to perform those functions alternatively or alongside physicians. Specifically, the bill removes language requiring physician signatures on certain mammography interpretations, allowing AI systems to contribute to the interpretation and analysis process. The changes update regulatory standards to accommodate advancing technology in breast cancer screening and diagnosis.
