Mr. Green of Texas introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Homeland Security

A BILL

To increase the annual rate of basic pay for career employees of the Transportation Security Administration, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “Original Legislation to Give TSA Employees a Raise”.

SEC. 2. TSA EMPLOYEE PAY INCREASE.

(a) In General.—Beginning on the first day of the applicable pay period—

(1) the annual rate of basic pay for each career employee shall be increased by 15 percent; and

(2) the annual rate of basic pay for each pay band under the Transportation Security Administration Core Compensation System shall be increased by 15 percent.

(b) Definitions.—In this section:

(1) Applicable pay period.—The term “applicable pay period” means the pay period that—

(A) is the first pay period beginning on or after the date of the enactment of this Act; and

(B) occurs prior to the beginning of the second pay period beginning after the date of the enactment of this Act.

(2) Career employee.—The term “career employee” means any career agent or officer of the Transportation Security Administration who is not a senior executive, a career appointee, or a senior career employee (as such terms are defined in section 114(n)(2) of title 49, United States Code) of the Administration. <all>
