To prohibit Federal education funds from being made available to any educational agency or institution that releases any education records or other student information for purposes of immigration enforcement.
Summary
This bill would prohibit federal education funding to any school or educational institution that releases education records or student information for immigration enforcement purposes without explicit written parental consent. Schools would be required to obtain written consent from parents before releasing any education records, personally identifiable information, or directory information for immigration enforcement, and the consent must specify what information will be released, the reasons for release, and to whom. Parents and students would have the right to receive a copy of any released records if they request it. Schools that violate this prohibition would lose access to federal education funds.
