To expand the definition of institution of higher education in the Higher Education Act of 1965 with respect to certain graduate medical schools located outside of the United States.
Summary
The bill amends the Higher Education Act of 1965 to expand the definition of "institution of higher education" to include certain graduate medical schools located outside the United States. It allows foreign medical schools to qualify if they have or maintain clinical training programs that are approved by a State, where the approval process required an on-site inspection of the institution and its affiliated locations. This change would enable students at certain foreign medical schools to potentially access federal education programs that depend on this institutional classification.
