To amend the Federal Power Act to require the consideration of invasive species when prescribing fishways, and for other purposes.
Summary
The bill amends the Federal Power Act to require consideration of invasive species when prescribing fishways. A fishway is a passage that allows fish to navigate around dams and other barriers in rivers and waterways. When the Secretary of Commerce or the Secretary of the Interior prescribe a fishway, they must now consider the threat of invasive species in consultation with the state where the fishway is located. This requirement applies to the process for prescribing new fishways under the Federal Power Act.
