Mrs. McClain Delaney (for herself and Mr. Vindman) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture
A BILL
To amend the Food and Agriculture Act of 1977 to reauthorize grants and fellowships for food and agricultural sciences education, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the “Higher Education Challenge Grant Modernization Act”.
SEC. 2. GRANTS AND FELLOWSHIPS FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES EDUCATION.
(a) Priorities.—Section 1417(c) of the Food and Agriculture Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 3152(c)) is amended—
(1) in paragraph (1), by striking “and” at the end;
(2) in paragraph (2), by striking the period at the end and inserting “; and”; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
“(3) applications for teaching enhancement projects, including paid work-based learning, that address a need for additional trained professionals in—
“(A) food and agricultural sciences; or
“(B) rural economic, community, and business development.”.
(b) Authorization of Appropriations.—Section 1417(m) of the Food and Agriculture Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 3152(m)) is amended—
(1) in paragraph (1), by striking “and” at the end;
(2) in paragraph (2), by striking the period at the end and inserting “; and”; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
“(3) $60,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2035.”. <all>
