Mr. Ogles introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform

A BILL

To amend section 6103 of title 5, United States Code, to change the date designated for Washington’s Birthday and designate Lincoln’s Birthday as a legal public holiday.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “Restoring Washington’s Birthday Act of 2026”.

SEC. 2. CHANGES TO LEGAL PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.

Section 6103(a) of title 5, United States Code, is amended—

(1) by inserting after the item relating to the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., the following: “Lincoln’s Birthday.”; and

(2) in the item relating to Washington’s Birthday, by striking “the third Monday in February” and inserting “February 22”. <all>
