HR 7503 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Housing for Heroes Act of 2026
To expand the eligibility of properties for the Good Neighbor Next Door Sales Program for members of the Armed Forces, firefighters, and law enforcement officials, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill expands eligibility for the Good Neighbor Next Door Sales Program, which is administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, to include members of the Armed Forces, firefighters, and law enforcement officers. Currently, properties available through the program are generally limited to those located in revitalization areas; this bill removes that geographic restriction for these eligible groups. Members of the Armed Forces, firefighters, and law enforcement officers may now purchase eligible single-unit properties acquired by HUD through the program regardless of whether the properties are located in a revitalization area. The Secretary of HUD is directed to amend applicable regulations to carry out these changes.
