Reentry Resource Guide Act of 2026
To establish a pilot program to develop, expand, and maintain digital community resource guides to advance the reentry efforts of individuals returning to their communities after incarceration.
Summary
The bill would establish a pilot program requiring the Attorney General to make three-year grants to states for developing, expanding, and maintaining digital community resource guides to assist individuals returning to their communities after incarceration. The resource guides would be comprehensive lists of statewide services sortable by region, including employment, housing, food, medical, legal, educational, mental health, and substance abuse treatment services, among other support categories. States applying for grants would need to submit applications outlining their strategies for identifying community resources, identifying responsible parties for managing the guides, and plans for promoting awareness within incarcerated and returning populations. Grant funds could be used for project planning, implementation, operational costs, employee salaries, and website maintenance. The bill would authorize $8 million in funding for each fiscal year from 2027 through 2030, with grantees required to submit annual reports and the Attorney General required to report to Congress on program outcomes and impact on recidivism.
