Summary

The AI for Secure Networks Act requires the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a study on how artificial intelligence technology can improve the security of telecommunications networks and any risks it may pose. The study will examine how AI can facilitate real-time threat detection, improve network resiliency and energy efficiency, and enhance security controls, as well as how AI can work with emerging technologies like Open Radio Access Networks and virtualized security systems. The Secretary must consult with the Federal Communications Commission and industry stakeholders on research and development activities related to AI and network security. The Secretary must submit a report to Congress within one year, which may include legislative recommendations, and must provide an opportunity for public comment before submitting the report.
