HR 7269 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Helping Our People Act of 2026
To amend the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Settlement Act of 1989 to clarify that amounts in the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Settlement Trust Fund may be withdrawn by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Settlement Act of 1989 to clarify withdrawal procedures for the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Settlement Trust Fund. It specifies that amounts in the trust fund may be withdrawn by the Puyallup Tribe pursuant to the American Indian Trust Fund Management Reform Act of 1994, subject to a management plan approved by the Secretary. The bill also adds a savings provision stating that the 1989 Settlement Act does not prevent the United States from engaging with the Puyallup Tribe on the same basis as other federally recognized Indian Tribes under any Federal law enacted after this bill's enactment. This clarification allows the tribe to participate in federal programs and benefits similar to other federally recognized tribes.
