Summary

This bill amends veterans benefits law to authorize the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide produce prescriptions to eligible veterans. A produce prescription is defined as a benefit, such as a voucher or debit card, that helps veterans with diet-related chronic conditions and food insecurity purchase fruits and vegetables. The program would make this benefit available to veterans who are food-insecure and have diet-related chronic conditions to help improve their health through better nutrition. Produce prescriptions would be considered a medical service covered under the VA's health benefits.
