HR 7193 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Campaign and Election Accountability Act
To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to prohibit providing assistance to foreign nationals in making contributions or donations in connection with elections, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to make it illegal for any person to knowingly help or assist a foreign national in making contributions or donations in connection with U.S. elections. Under existing law, foreign nationals are already prohibited from making such contributions or donations. The bill adds a new provision to close a potential loophole by specifically prohibiting assistance to foreign nationals in violating this ban. The prohibition takes effect for contributions and donations made after the bill is enacted.
