Summary

The bill amends the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to include data on animal abuse in the national clearinghouse for child abuse and neglect information. Animal abuse is defined as any act or failure to act resulting in undue pain, suffering, or death to an animal, regardless of whether it violates state or local law. By tracking animal abuse data alongside child abuse statistics, the bill establishes a mechanism to collect information on the co-occurrence of these forms of abuse.
