Introduced Jan 14, 2026

Latest action (May 20, 2026) Referred to the Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development.

Summary

HR 7080 amends the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 to recognize waste energy recovery as a source of renewable energy. The bill defines waste energy recovery as heat or pressure that would otherwise be wasted from commercial, residential, or industrial processes and is recovered to generate electricity through waste heat to power or waste pressure to power systems. By including waste energy recovery in the definition of renewable energy, the bill makes such systems potentially eligible for federal renewable energy programs and incentives established under the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act.
