To increase collaboration within the Department of State between the Office of Opinion Research of the Bureau of Intelligence and Research and the Bureau of Global Public Affairs.
Summary
This bill directs the Department of State to increase collaboration between its Office of Opinion Research and the Bureau of Global Public Affairs. The Assistant Secretary for Global Public Affairs would request that the Office of Opinion Research conduct public opinion surveys in regions where the United States operates or plans to operate funded media outlets. These surveys would provide information about cultural context, target audiences, and public attitudes toward the United States and its interests in those regions. The bill aims to better inform the State Department's public affairs efforts by incorporating research data on international public opinion.
