Bolstering the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve Act
To require the Secretary of Energy to complete a long-range strategic review of the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve, and for other purposes.
Summary
The Bolstering the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve Act requires the Secretary of Energy to conduct a comprehensive strategic review of the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve and submit a report to Congress within 180 days. The report must assess the reserve's role in meeting current and future U.S. energy and economic security goals and determine whether existing legal authorities are sufficient. The Secretary must identify the reserve's current configuration and capabilities, recommend an optimal plan for capacity, location, product composition, storage, and distribution, and estimate the resources needed for long-term sustainability. The bill aims to ensure the reserve can effectively support energy security in the Northeast.
