HR 6793 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Public Shipyard Workforce Protection Act of 2025
To prohibit the use of funds authorized to be appropriated for the Department of Defense to carry out a hiring freeze, reduction in force, or hiring delay without cause at a public shipyard.
Summary
The bill prohibits the Department of Defense from using fiscal year 2026 appropriated funds to implement hiring freezes, workforce reductions, or delays in filling vacant civilian positions at public shipyards. The prohibition specifically covers three staffing actions: hiring freezes, reductions in force, and delays in hiring without cause. The restrictions do not prevent staffing reductions or hiring delays that have documented reasons at public shipyards.
