Mrs. Luna introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs

A BILL

To repeal a restriction on assistance to Azerbaijan.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. REPEAL OF RESTRICTION ON ASSISTANCE IN FREEDOM SUPPORT ACT.

(a) Findings.—Congress finds that—

(1) the Republic of Azerbaijan has remained a steadfast ally to the United States and United States allies since its independence—providing critical cooperation in times of war and times of peace;

(2) Azerbaijan has demonstrated a clear commitment to prioritizing peace in the South Caucasus; and

(3) Azerbaijan reached a peace agreement in which the respective borders and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia have been agreed upon.

(b) Repeal of Restriction on Assistance to Azerbaijan.—Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act (22 U.S.C. 5812 note) is repealed.

(c) Clerical Amendment.—The table of contents for such Act is amended by striking the item relating to section 907. <all>
