HR 6448 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To amend section 47109 of title 49, United States Code, to update the requirements to qualify for the special rule relating to project costs for airports in economically distressed communities, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends Federal aviation law to update the requirements for airports to qualify for special funding rules regarding the Federal government's share of airport project costs. The bill modifies the eligibility criteria to include airports that are receiving essential air service with Federal compensation provided to air carriers. The bill also includes airports located in United States territories that were eligible points under section 419 of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 on October 24, 1978. These eligibility criteria determine which airports qualify for the special Federal funding rules and cost-sharing arrangements. The changes take effect upon enactment of the bill.
