Communities Before Air Tourism Act
To amend title 49, United States Code, to require that a voluntary agreement with respect to commercial air tour operations over a national park considers the well-being of communities overflown by aircraft involved in such operations, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal aviation law to modify the requirements for voluntary agreements regarding commercial air tour operations over national parks. It requires that such agreements consider the well-being of communities whose lands are overflown by tour aircraft, in addition to existing considerations such as air quality and air traffic control. The bill also expands the consultation process to include communities whose lands are or may be overflown by air tour operations, not just Indian tribes. These changes aim to give communities greater consideration in decision-making regarding air tour operations near national parks.
