Summary

HR 6102 would amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to allow states to require applicants to provide proof of citizenship on mail voter registration forms. Currently, federal law establishes national voter registration standards for mail-in forms, and this bill would permit states to add a citizenship proof requirement on top of those standards. The bill also includes a technical correction updating a reference from the Federal Election Commission to the Election Assistance Commission. The changes would take effect immediately upon enactment.
