Servicemember Credit Monitoring Enhancement Act
To amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act to expand the definition of an active duty military consumer for purposes of certain credit monitoring requirements, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act to expand credit monitoring protections for military servicemembers. The bill changes the definition of who qualifies for credit monitoring requirements from "active duty military consumer" to "uniformed services member consumer," broadening eligibility to include all members of the uniformed services as defined under federal law. This expansion would make more servicemembers, such as those in the reserves and National Guard, eligible for credit monitoring protections under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
