To appropriate funds for LIHEAP during a Federal Government shutdown.
Summary
The Keep the Heat On Act of 2025 would appropriate emergency funds to continue Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) payments during a federal government shutdown in fiscal year 2026. The bill would use Treasury funds not otherwise appropriated to maintain LIHEAP payments at the same rate as the corresponding month in the previous fiscal year. This would ensure that low-income households continue to receive heating and energy assistance during any lapse in regular appropriations.
