Summary

This bill amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to make the Migrant Protection Protocols mandatory in immigration proceedings. Specifically, it changes section 235(b)(2)(C) of the law from allowing the implementation of the Migrant Protection Protocols (by using the word "may") to requiring it (by changing to "shall"). The Migrant Protection Protocols is an immigration policy related to how asylum seekers are processed at the border. By changing this one word, the bill converts what was previously a discretionary option into a legal requirement. The amendment makes no other changes to the statute.
