To withhold certain transportation program funds from States that grant drivers licenses to illegal immigrants or fail to share information about criminal aliens with the Federal Government.
Summary
This bill establishes requirements for states to receive certain highway funding. Beginning in fiscal year 2027, states must prohibit issuing drivers licenses or commercial drivers licenses to individuals who cannot prove United States citizenship or lawful permanent residence. States must also allow local and state government entities to share immigration-related information with the Department of Homeland Security. The bill defines immigration enforcement information to include citizenship and immigration status details, as well as the date, time, and location of releases from detention facilities. States that do not comply will lose 50 percent of their highway funding apportionments, and the Secretaries of Transportation and Homeland Security must maintain a public database tracking state compliance.
