Mr. Miller of Florida introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Government Reform

A BILL

To establish a term limit of ten years for the Director of the Census, and to provide that an individual may not serve more than one term as the Director.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT OF 10-YEAR TERM LIMIT FOR THE DIRECTOR OF THE CENSUS; LIMITATION ON APPOINTMENT TO ONE TERM.

(a) Establishment of Term Limits.—Section 21 of title 13, United States Code, is amended by inserting “, for a period of ten years. An individual may not serve more than one term as Director” after “Senate”.

(b) Applicability.—The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to an appointment of the Director of the Census made on or after the date of the enactment of this Act. <all>
