HR 5105 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To amend the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 to expand new home construction, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 to add construction of new residential housing for low- and moderate-income persons as an allowable use of federal community development funds. Cities, counties, states, local governments, insular areas, and tribal entities that receive these funds may use them for new home construction, either independently or in partnership with nonprofit organizations. The expansion allows for more flexibility in how communities can use federal housing assistance to address housing needs.
